Purpose of the Tshwane Metro Police Learnerships 2025

The 2025 TMPD Learnership Programme aims to attract young, physically and mentally fit individuals from all racial, gender, and disability groups. Successful applicants will undergo extensive training in traffic policing, municipal by-law enforcement, and crime prevention—equipping them with the skills and knowledge to serve the City of Tshwane effectively.

Minimum Requirements for TMPD Trainee Applications

To qualify for the Tshwane Metro Police Learnerships 2025, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

*Matric Certificate (Grade 12) – Proof must be submitted.
*Valid Driving Licence – Manual transmission; pass TMPD driving test.

*No Criminal Record – Includes no pending cases; applicants must consent to fingerprinting at their own cost.
*Citizenship – Must be a South African citizen and resident of the City of Tshwane.

*Age Range – Between 18 and 35 years old.
*Medical Fitness – Provide a valid medical certificate; capable of strenuous physical activity.

*Physical Fitness – Pass physical fitness evaluations.
*Psychometric Testing – Must be willing to undergo and pass.

*Language Proficiency – Must be proficient in English and pass an assessment.
*Firearm Eligibility – Must not be declared incompetent under the Firearms Control Act (Sections 102, 103, or 104).

*No Visible Tattoos – No tattoos visible while wearing the TMPD uniform.
*Code of Conduct – Must be willing to sign the TMPD’s official code of conduct.

*Primary Roles and Responsibilities

Once trained, Trainee Metro Police Officers will be expected to:

Enforce the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996)
Policing of municipal by-laws and regulations

Participate in crime prevention and public safety operations
