About the Position

SARS is looking for a self-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced, high-pressured inter-agency environment. A highly skilled, experienced, purpose-led and value-driven individual to collaborate with the various enforcement stakeholders. The suitable candidate must have the ability to review and contribute to customs and excise investigations by identifying facts, accessing relevant sources and preparing written inputs for both internal and external investigations.

The ideal candidate for the role should demonstrate knowledge and experience in inter-agency or joint investigations relating to Customs and Excise fraud, money-laundering, corruption and exchange control regulations contraventions. Also required is knowledge of SARS’s information sharing (legal and operational) mechanisms and proficiency in drafting case referrals for customs and excise fraud and statutory offences identified in respect of money-laundering, corruption and exchange control contraventions referred to SARS by enforcement stakeholders.

The individual will be part of team building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships, facilitating communication and coordinating activities among enforcement stakeholders, in particular the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and SARS.

 

Job Purpose

To execute specialist stakeholder relation tactical interventions, tactical research assignments and to maintain & sustain mutual partnerships with all stakeholders, in the pursuit of SARS’s strategic vision.

 

 

 

Education and Experience

 

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

 

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND 8-10 years’ experience in customs and excise investigation and/or liaison related experience, of which 3-4 years ideally at Operational Specialist level

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 15 years in customs and excise investigation and/or liaison related experience of which 3-4 years ideally at Operational Specialist level
